THENOBLEQUR'AN

The Noble Qur'an is God's Word, which He revealed to His Prophet Muhammad (s) through the Angel Gabriel (r.a). The word "Qur'an" derives from the verb qara'a (he read) and means "that which has been read".

For the Muslims it is the first and most important source of law and the last revelation of God to mankind. It is divided into 114 chapters, called "Surah", the shortest of which has three verses and the longest has 286 verses. The Qur'an was revealed in Arabic and has survived in its original form to this day. God Himself guarantees in the Qur'an that He protects it from corruption:

It is certainly We Who have revealed the Reminder, and it is certainly We Who will preserve it.“ Qur'an - Chapter 15 : Verse 9

HEARTHEAZAN

THE CALL TO PRAYER

The Azan is a Muslim call to prayer that is called out five times a day by a Muezzin from a Mosque. The first Muezzin was Bilal ibn Rabah, a black slave who became an early follower of the Prophet Muhammad (s).

MAKKAHLIVE

WITH QUR'AN RECITATION

Makkah Al-Mukarramah is the holiest city for Muslims and is located in Saudi Arabia. It is the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad (s) and the site of the Kaa'ba, a sacred building (Qibla) at the center of the Al-Haram Mosque. Every year, millions of Muslims from around the world make pilgrimages to Makkah to take part in the ritual acts of Hajj.

MADINAHLIVE

WITH HADITH READINGS (ARABIC)

Madinah Al-Munawwarah is a city in Saudi Arabia that is considered the second most important site for Muslims. It is the place where the Prophet Muhammad (s) found refuge after fleeing Makkah in 622 AD and where he spent the rest of his life. Madina is a holy place for Muslims and is visited by millions of pilgrims every year.

EXTREMISM

The Vienna Islamic Centre condemns any form of extremist thought and expressly distances itself from crimes committed in the name of Islam - a religion of peace. People who take such positions or spread propaganda that glorifies violence and hate are not welcome at the Islamic Centre.
